| Resumo: | This chapter critically reflects on a transformative learning journey of 78 second-year undergraduate tourism students participating in a Management, Entrepreneurship & Leadership course at the University of Applied Sciences & Arts Western Switzerland. The students were tasked with identifying, analyzing, and addressing the challenges related to climate change and sustainability, collaborating closely with local stakeholders. The study highlights the effectiveness of combining Flipped Classroom (FC) and Community-Engaged Learning (CEL) models in providing interactive and collaborative learning experiences both in and out of the classroom, thereby fostering sustainability skills development. Students recognize the value of engaging with the community, embracing their role as change agents, and addressing real needs in the tourism industry while promoting sustainability. This approach could inspire new teaching models for integrating FC and CEL into tourism programs. It also provides future tourism leaders with practical skills to promote sustainable development outside academic settings. |
