Abstract: After reviewing the importance of tourism and its underlying new trends, this chapter outlines the principle of slow tourism and analyses its potential development, in particular for mountain resorts of moderate altitude. The chapter presents a few examples in Switzerland, where slow tourism around antiquated pleasures, such as walking and flower-viewing excursions, has been introduced as an antipode to fast and stressful (mass) tourism products
