| Samenvatting: | This study details an open innovation methodology based on the Quadruple Helix model, successfully applied to develop circular economy projects contributing to the SDGs in the canton of Valais (Switzerland). The process, structured in four phases and based on co-creation and design thinking tools, enabled the initial ideas from a previous large-scale crowdsourcing challenge to converge into collaborative, strategically-thought-out projects. The methodology also made it possible to structure the convergence of initial ideas towards mostly complete Business Model Canvases. The participants expressed great satisfaction, and the results show significant potential for the projects developed, with funding opportunities identified (e.g. from the NTN Innovation Booster). The main contribution of this article is to provide a concrete and analyzed example of such a methodology, offering practical lessons for its implementation and avenues for theoretical reflection on the operationalization of open innovation in Quadruple Helix for sustainable development. On a practical level, this methodology offers a replicable framework for local authorities, associations or incubators wishing to stimulate collaborative innovation oriented towards societal challenges. It stresses the importance of structured support and adapted tools to facilitate co-creation. On a theoretical level, this case study illustrates the application of the Quadruple Helix model in the context of circular economy and SDGs. It highlights the role of "facilitator" that institutions such as the Universities of Applied Sciences (HES) can play in orchestrating such innovation ecosystems. |
