Abstract: | This paper presents the results of a project aiming at Innovating in the technology watch process through the development of a hybrid process to elaborate and update a portfolio of strategic variable cards for a big industrial company in Switzerland with interests in worldwide high-end technologies. The aim of this paper is to provide guidance for those needing to set up such a strategic intelligence system. To achieve our monitoring objectives, the project used an approach based on Kolb's (1984) experiential learning process, organized around the following stages: a) practical experience, b) reflective observation, c) conceptualization and d) active experimentation. The objectives associated with the 4 phases, which will be achieved successively each month, will support the improvement of the watch process according to Nonaka's (1996) knowledge capture model. These approaches were used to improve the traditional intelligence cycle proposed by Herring (1999). The alignment of the stages of the intelligence cycle, deliberate practice and knowledge capture, with the objectives of the mandate, as well as the presentation of the process put in place, are detailed in the full paper and in the conference presentation. In conclusion, the author outlines the limits and recommendations for carrying out such a process. |
