   abstract = {This article presents a case study that explains how a stakeholder approach based on the Quintuple Helix model and the quest for leaders’ possible, impossible, but also of desirable and not desirable or even essential things (S.P.I.N.S) can be used as a stimulating frame for addressing the challenge of sustainable building renovation at a regional scale as one of the main levers of the energy transition. While the Quintuple Helix model provides a systemic approach to stakeholders and their interactions, integrating political, educational, economic, socio-cultural, and environmental dimensions, the “S.P.I.N.S” quest helps capture and put into words stakeholders’ strategic vision, highlighting points of convergence and divergence that emerge from those visions, so as to co-build a shared strategic vision that leads to decisions, actions and solutions that are socially acceptable, relevant, and effective.}
